In Episode One of Crafting Like A Sir we will be tackling the Deluxe Model Ray Gun from My Chemical Romance's Killjoys concept from the album/videos/comic.
I have received this request from a multitude of people as the prop is now discontinued and rather expensive on the web (I was told by one that it ranges from $200-400).
There will be two versions of this gun.
Version One is comprised of crafting foam and white glue sealer.
Version Two starts out from crafting foam and then is cast in silicone and resin. Resin is what the publicly sold prop is made of.
Version One is quite easy and relatively inexpensive, $ ($20ish). Version Two is at cost level $$$ as the silicone and resin are around $30 a box. [The silicone mold is re-usable! Worth every penny]
The pattern images will be posted below in image and link form. When you print out the base of the gun (Pattern A) it should be 32.5cm in length from the round of the butt of the handle to the tip of the barrel. **The measurements are printed on the pattern pieces. Some pieces may say "nearly" as it is between measurements. I prefer to round up and carve off the extra.
My name is Hallena and this blog will be you Hitchhiker's Guide to the Crafting Galaxy. The goal is to teach you how to make your desired props on a budget. There are four levels of difficulty as well as accompanying cost:
For the most part we will be working in the Beginner/Novice range but occasionally we will venture out to the more difficult aspects of crafting.
I try my best to break down the piece in the easiest way possible but I won’t lie; some things will require a skill set that some may not have. You’ll find that I will do my best to explain/find a way around that particular issue but it may not always be an option.
There will be a shopping list posted both on the blog and the Youtube video information section that will include item, cost and location. I will post ways to cut the cost in half (IE: Coupons) if possible and add warnings if a certain item cannot be substituted.
*Should you need additional assistance on any particular piece you may contact me at Halle.Quinn@Gmail.com. Please use this format:
[Subject: Item/Difficulty level
Email Body: What you’re having issues with, include photo LINKS (not the actual photo via attachment) if possible]
Remember:
**Should you wish to submit a project for tutorial, please follow this format:
[Subject: Item / Difficulty Level
Email body: Explain what you would like, add photo LINKS (not the actual photo via attachment), and when you will need it by. ]
***I ask that you do not “spam” me with requests as I will be putting all like items into series format. All ray gun items will go into a “Futuristic Weapons” series, all DC/Marvel character pieces will go into a “Comic/Comic movie” series and so on.
